Peter E. Schnaitman

Peter Schnaitman is an accomplished trial lawyer who handles complex cases, including business disputes, employment law, serious personal injury cases, and matters involving sexual assault. Mr. Schnaitman’s extensive experience enables him to analyze legal issues and devise efficient and effective solutions for his clients. His representative matters have involved litigation in forums throughout the country, and have included multi-district litigations and coordinated and class proceedings through trial, verdict, and appeal.
Before joining Greenberg Gross LLP, Mr. Schnaitman was a shareholder at Hunt Ortmann Palffy Nieves Darling & Mah, Inc. He has also worked with various other firms and managed his own practice. He has represented a diverse range of clients, ranging from individuals and consumers, to Fortune 500 companies.
Mr. Schnaitman is admitted to practice before the state and federal courts of California and Ohio. He holds a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and a B.A. from Earlham College.

- Obtained a significant recovery for a bicyclist severely injured by an on-coming bicyclist on the San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail.
- Obtained a significant recovery for family members of a pedestrian killed at the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market when an 86-year-old man crashed through a wooden-and-plastic barricade leading to the market.
- Obtained a favorable decision on behalf of a contractor in a three-week bench trial concerning specifications and standards applicable to the project and an award of damages for contract balance due on the project.
- Successfully represented homeowners in a property line, hedge, fence, security camera dispute.
- Successfully represented a developer in an arbitration to defend a claim by a subcontractor for the recovery of extra work due to an alleged differing site conditions.
- Successfully represented an insured in an insurance coverage action where he obtained a favorable ruling against the insurer.
- Obtained a favorable decision in an arbitration about theft of trade secrets with an award and recovery of prevailing party attorney’s fees.
- Obtained prejudgment relief leading to a recovery of outstanding funds due from a promissory note.
- Represented various subcontractors in a multi-party dispute arising from a project stopped due to the property owner’s financial problems with a negotiated resolution of claims after successful pretrial rulings.
- Represented a boutique intellectual property law firm in a contentious jury trial involving partnership claims arising out of the recruitment of a partner by a large national law firm.
